The barely-there running short, built for the simple joy of an out and back. Cut from a soft, wood-based viscose made using Lenzing™ yarn, it's so light and fluid you'll forget you're wearing it, moving with a gentle drape exactly as you do. We've kept it clean and simple, with nothing you don't need: a discreet key pocket at the back, adjustable internal cords for a comfortable fit, and a high side split for a full, free stride. Woven from tree cellulose, then pressed and sewn by us in Manchester by a team paid the Real Living Wage.

Design story

A clean, simple short for your out and back. Getting it this pared back took a bit of doing.

There was a fair bit of debate over the side split. We went high in the end, so you get a full, unrestricted leg stride.

We also went without a liner. We wanted these to be a proper unisex short, and, honestly, half the population don't really need one, so it felt like the right call to leave it out.

They actually started with a large zip pocket at the back, but when our run group tested them, no one really used it out on a run. So we took it off. That kept the shorts cleaner and brought the cost down too, leaving just a discreet key pocket for the essentials.

On an out and back, most people are happy with a watch and a key, and if you want to carry more, they pair perfectly with the running belt.

Design process
Fabric story

Our running shorts are made from sustainably sourced viscose, a wood-based fabric derived from tree cellulose and made using Lenzing™ yarn. Naturally sourced and renewable, it's a largely plant-based alternative to the fully synthetic fabrics most running gear relies on. From tree to fabric: the wood is pulped, dissolved, then pushed through tiny holes to form fine filaments, spun into yarn and woven into a soft twill. A regenerated fibre, made from nature and engineered into something beautifully soft and breathable. The result is a lightweight twill with a lovely soft drape, breathable and durable enough to go the distance.
